Friday Clubs

As these are events are sponsored by our generous hosts, there is no charge to attend, although you must register your interest and commitment to attend so that sufficient accommodation and sustinence can be provided.

As usual, Friday Club events will run throughout the year. Details of each event will appear on this website as details are confirmed.

These (Friday) lunchtime events provide an excellent opportunity for members, guests and hosts to engage with the invited guest speakers. The events are varied in format: some are Q&A style, others more formal presentations and debates. We have scheduled Friday Club lunchtime events in the following months in 2009:

  • Febuary
  • April
  • June
  • October
  • December

Formal Dinners

Whilst we do have some sponsorship for these events we are requested to hold them in suitable surroundings such as the region's finest hotels and convention centres for security, comfort and quality so all concerned can relax and enjoy every aspect of the event. To this end we will as a rule look to include welcome drinks and wine at the table together with excellent fayre. Based on the overheads a cost will be detwermined and small discounts allowed for WM LFIG members and guests purchasing a whole table. These costs vary and will be stipulated with the details of each event.

WM LFIG host some of the most dynamic dinners in the annual political calender. Our annual dinner programme usually includes:

  • The Annual Legal Dinner
  • The Annual Health Dinner
  • The Annual Education Dinner

Recent keynote speakers have included the Lord Chancellor and the Secretaries of State for Health and for Education.

Due to the locations and security implications associated with some of our guest speakers we do request that you enter named guests and contact details to enable us to accurately provide sustinence and dietary requirments and also to satisfy any security and event management requirements on the day. We will soon be introducing an e-business solution for this purpose that will produce a definitive guest list for the event management team.
